What is Mu-hee-ka?

Muheeka (pronounced Moo-HEE-kah) is a name inspired by my mother, Edelmira Mujica, who was born in the small Quechua-speaking village of Acomayo in Peru. Growing up with my Peruvian heritage has shaped my appreciation for color, craftsmanship, artistry, and the stories that handmade objects carry. The name honors my family's roots while reflecting the creative spirit behind everything I design and curate.

Hi, I'm Jen Summers, founder and designer behind Muheeka.

For me, design has always been about telling a story. My work blends the free spirit of the 1970s with the colors, textures, and artistry inspired by my Peruvian and Quechua heritage. Every collection reflects a love of craftsmanship, individuality, and pieces that feel collected rather than mass-produced.

Jewelry has become an equally important part of my creative journey. For more than twenty years, I apprenticed alongside my father, master silversmith Bob Summers, learning traditional silver-smithing techniques, fabrication, stone setting, and the art of designing with natural gemstones. Today I create handcrafted sterling silver jewelry, gemstone designs, and one-of-a-kind pieces while continuing the tradition he passed on to me.

Beyond creating jewelry, I'm also passionate about discovering it. I spend countless hours exploring estate sales, thrift stores, flea markets, and forgotten collections in search of exceptional vintage statement pieces. I love researching their history, styling them, and curating collections that blend seamlessly with my own handcrafted work. I believe the best collections combine old and new, preserving beautiful craftsmanship while giving each piece a new life.
